HOAs are a throwback to medieval feudalism

Preposterous?  A wild thought?    You say that: according to the national HOA business ‘educational’ trade group, HOAs are the best example of local democracy at work [1].  So, make your point, convince me!  OK, I will!

Please see the table,  A comparison between fiefdoms and HOAs.

Note 1. “Associations are the most local form of representative democracy, with leaders elected by their neighbors to govern in the best interests of all residents.”  Community Associations Fundamentals, item 2.

See HOA Constitutional Government at http://pvtgov.org. My efforts with HOAs took me to a broader concern that was deeply affecting the constituionality of HOAs. Those broad societal and plotical concerns caused me to start this new blog for my commentaries on the State of the New America.

  1. While I agree with George that HOAs are in the similitude of serfdom (involuntary servants) of the bogus ‘adhesion contract’ and that HOAs treat their members with disrespect and disdain…the more urgent issue of discussion is that the HOA environment is not a happy place to live and raise a family but is a community where the homeowners are literally in a state of enmity (war between homeowners and the BOD and Community manager. There is no peace…but fear of harm and vengeance from an angry BOD and Community Manger if the homeowner slaves do not do what they are told. This type of modern day slavery violates the 13th Amendment and Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution’s 4th Amendment to be ‘secure in their houses.’

The HOA is evil and should be removed from society.

  2. Terrific analogy!! My HOA allows 5 minutes for one homeowner to address an issue at the monthly Board Meeting. End of meeting then shown the door. Need a torch taken to them. What’s more nauseating is that they get away with this type of behavior.

    1. We have had an issue with suppression of Members and Cmhairmen of our Covenents Committee speaking at meetings. Only 2 minutes for a member – Chairman only allowed to use personal 2 minutes regardless of any issues or positions needed to be communicated on behalf of the Committee!

  3. Very astute comparison. I think this should be forwarded to our legislators. Many do not really understand HOAs and this would serve to give a little insight as to what an HOA really is.

  4. Absolutely right on. AND
    1. Citizen can not directly talk to the Lord, nor the replacement boards. All communications must go through someone else.
    2. No Fourth Estate allowed entry. All communication strictly censored
