FL attorney ridicules HOA Syndrome and homeowner sufferings

Shame on Ryan Poliakoff, a Florida attorney, and HOA activist and supporter.
He ridicules the suffering, and emotional and physical stress caused by unconscionable CC&R adhesion contracts, defended by the Poliakoffs and other CAI attorneys, and supported by pro-HOA statutes.  (Photo from Poliakoff article).

“So, let’s get this straight.  A kooky psychology professor famous for “cinematherapy,” a chiropractor and a politically-aware anti-HOA lawyer walk into a bar…

“In any event, if any of the maladies in the links above seem familiar to you, maybe you too are suffering from the dreaded HOA Syndrome.  I recommend you call your doctor.  But don’t get upset with me if she can’t stop laughing.  Maybe this post should be under comedy, after all.”

Note the failure to address statements made before various state legislative committees, among them Arizona, California, Texas and Florida’s own Rep. Robaina Hearings.  He should also read the comments to my Commentary,
Psychologist defines the HOA Syndrome caused by oppressive HOAs

Shame on Poliakoff and those legislators who also see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil — those who are active participants in the Unspoken Alliance of No negatives About HOAs.

Shame on Ryan Poliakoff!   He should be disbarred!

Those broad societal and plotical concerns caused me to start this new blog for my commentaries on the State of the New America.

  1. In Iowa, we have a money hungry attorney who is also an association board member that took charge of drafting the new set of covenants and now use’s it for his own benefit and goes after innocent homeowners and sues them for thousands of dollars. And then threatens them in district court if they don’t do what he says.

The IA Supreme Court Disciplinary Board finds no fault with this and determines there is no ‘conflict of interest’. In otherwards, they protect each other.

  2. Hi George, just for point of information–I haven’t practiced law in over a decade, and I’ve never been an HOA attorney–I did mostly patent and securities law. I’m also not an active member of any bar, nor have ever claimed to be, so I probably can’t be disbarred. I am, however, an HOA supporter and activist, as you state.

    Thanks for reading my blog.

    1. Thanks for clarifying the facts. I guess I was puzzled since you co-authored the New Neighborhoods book. I guess I got it right that Gary is your brother.

  3. “Like ravenous parasites, these organizations feed off of fear-based harassment.”
The Poliakoffs obviously enjoy a position of power and intentionally inflict emotional distress as a form of entertainment. “BULLIES” – they’re not just for school children any more!

    1. How true, Mr. Flocker. We are billed for “legal fees” by the HOA and mgmt.co., however, the “legal fees” are never itemized from the CAI lawyers hired by this unaccountable HOA and mgmt. We requested via certified mail several times for explanation of these mysterious “legal fees” billed, but no answers have been forthcoming, such is the HOA legal system in Florida.

  4. As an additional note, Ryan Poliakoff is co-author with Gary Poliakoff of the 2009 book, “New Neighborhoods: The Consumer Guide to Condominium, Co-op, and HOA Living.” So, I guess this is the attitude homebuyers, not those solely seeking to be Manangement, can expect from these pro-HOA attorneys. See my review of this book at New Neighborhoods.
